Umuegbe Welfare Foundation partners Imo NAWOJ on humanitarian activities
The Umuegbe Welfare Foundation in Isiala Mbano local government area has partnered the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Imo State Chapter, as the duo distributed Christmas palliatives to the less privileged and down trodden in the Umuegbe community.
Presenting an address on behalf of the Chairman, Umuegbe Welfare Foundation, Mr. Okechukwu Maduka, the President General of Umuegbe Community, Mr. Leonard Ikenna Aguzie, stated that the vision of the foundation is for a better Umuegbe.
Noting that Umuegbe Welfare Foundation is separate from Umuegbe community union, Mr. Aguzie stressed that their support and love will be shown not only to Umuegbe but will spread to their neighbouring communities.
He appreciated the foundation members who generously donated their time and resources for the growth of the foundation, praying that their dedication would never go unrewarded.
Speaking also, the Umuegbe Welfare Foundation Implementation Committee Chairman, Mr. Harrison Duru, said the foundation, which was the idea of some members of the community, now has membership cutting across all the states of the federation and even in the diaspora.
Mr. Duru noted that the foundation consists of individuals of like minds in the community whom God have placed the resources in their hands to support the needy and poor in their midst.
He, however, commended NAWOJ for partnering with them and also giving them a voice both in the state and nationwide, while calling on other foundations both locally and internationally to join hands with them to make progress.
Leading her members to Umuegbe community, Umuduru, Isiala Mbano local government area, the NAWOJ Chairperson, Dr. Dorothy Nnaji, in her remarks at the official launching of the foundation, expressed joy witnessing such humanitarian activity.
She encouraged the organizers to enlarge their coast by involving other well to do members of the community into the foundation.
Dr. Nnaji stated that NAWOJ, Imo State, is proud to associate and partner with the foundation in touching lives positively and giving hope to those in despair, adding that continuous visibility of the foundation is rest assured.
She highlighted that NAWOJ, Imo State as a Non- governmental organization, is human faced and is also bothered about humanity by giving succour to widows who are being maltreated, children who face ill treatment by their guardians are also giving solace and not exempting men or widowers who are also maltreated in the society, amongst others.
The NAWOJ number one person in the state urged other well to do personalities in other communities and villages in the state, to embark on such humanitarian gesture in order to ameliorate the fangs of poverty and hunger amongst her citizens.
A recipient of the gesture, Mrs. Lilian Amucha, who could not hide her joy, audibly thanked the foundation for putting smiles upon her face and other persons.
She prayed for God’s abundant blessings, long life, peace, and joy upon them.
