A United States of America -based Nigerian Entrepreneur, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Esther Kode, has sponsored 20 pupils of the Baptist Model High school, Sanngo, Eruwa and five others from other colleges in Ibarapa East local government area for training in essential digital skills.
The training program which coincides with the valedictory ceremony of Senior Secondary School leaving pupils of the School is targeted at bridging the digital divides for secondary school children in Nigeria.
The training program is an annual event started six years ago.
The Kodes were motivated by the activities and love for the Ibarapa East community by Dr. Olugbenga Kode, Father in-law to Mrs. Oluwatoyin Esther Kode.
Dr. Olugbenga Kode served as the Health Consultant to the Ibarapa East Local Government for many years.
She was represented by the Coordinator for the project in Nigeria, Mr. Wale Olakojo.
Mr. Olakojo, in his speech delivered at the valedictory ceremony appreciated the Principal, the valedictory committee, the Parents/Teachers Association as well as the entire staff of the school for the honor to chair the valedictory ceremony.
He expressed delight at the presence of the Chairman of the Local Government, Hon Kazim Arogundade.
He admonished the graduands to be focused on the challenges ahead of them.
Mrs. Kode has been known to be in the forefront of spearheading initiatives to equip secondary school students across Nigeria with digital skills, preparing them for success in the increasingly technology-driven world.
She is a passionate believer in the empowering of Nigerian youths population who often face significant economic changes and limited employment opportunities.
As a result of her recognition of the transformative potential of technology, Mrs. Kode established tuition free STEM Boot Camps for secondary schools graduates.
The program offers comprehensive training in a range of in-demand skills, which includes computer programming, 3-D animation and more.
Participants in the programs are exposed to hands-on learning and real-world applications. They also gain both technical proficiency and to pursue careers in digital economy.
Mrs. Kode’s work is evident in the success stories of her boot camp graduates, many of whom have leveraged on their skills to secure freelance work on global platforms such as Fiverr and Upwork, achieving financial independence.
She has received recognitions and support from various well meaning stakeholders including education Institutions, Government Agencies and private sector partners.
The training for the 25 students of the Baptist Model High school, Sanngo, Eruwa will be hosted at the Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic Campus, Eruwa CBT Centre and will be fully funded by Mrs. Oluwatoyin Esther Kode.
