NTA Reporter, Ayomiku Ajibola emerges Oyo SWAN Chairman
A reporter with the Nigerian Television Authority, (NTA), Ibadan Network Centre, Ayomiku Ajibola, has emerged the new Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Oyo State Chapter.
Ajibola won with a landslide victory against his opponent from the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Remi Koleoso.
The election which was keenly contested at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Press Centre, Iyaganku, Ibadan, saw Ajibola emerging with 36 votes to beat Koleoso who polled seven votes.
Ajibola in his victory speech, extended his appreciation to all members of SWAN in the state for their trust and support, assuring that he would work assiduously to uphold the values and standard of the association.
He further pledged the commitment of the new executive to be ethical, accurate and impactful to move the union forward in the state.
He also promised to work and collaborate with all members to promote the association to highest standard.
He said, “My fellow sports journalists, it is with great honour and humility that I stand before you as the newly elected Chairman of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Oyo State Chapter.
“I want to thank you all for your support and trust, and I promise to work tirelessly to uphold the values and standards of this organization.
“I believe that sports journalism has a crucial role to play in our society, and I am committed to ensuring that our work is ethical, accurate and impactful.
“I look forward to collaborating with all of you to raise the profile of this association and to promote the highest standards of journalism.”
