I’ll emerge the next Ondo governor, SDP candidate, Akingboye
The gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the forthcoming election in Ondo State, Otunba Bamidele Akingboye (OBA), has said he will emerge as the next governor of the Sunshine State.
This is just as he declared that past governors in the state recorded only 20 per cent success.
Akingboye while addressing journalists in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, maintained that he is optimistic and determined to lead the state, stating that aside coming from the most populated area in the state, 70 per cent political structures of the former governor, late Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, including his younger brother, Femi, are currently backing his gubernatorial ambition which gave him conviction of his victory at the poll.
According to him, his intention to contest to be governor of the state was not by desperation nor looking for name or fame, but to alliviate the suffering of the people of the state, assuring that he will correct mistakes of past administrations in the state if elected as the governor of the state and bring succour to the people in the state.
He said, “Ondo people are suffering and I want to promise that the state will shine again when I become the governor of our dear state. I have been around to lead the state in the last 24 years, indees my brain is loaded with how the state will develop when I emerge as the governor.”
Akingboye insisted that the previous governors who governed the state recorded 80 per cent failure and only 20 per cent success in major areas of human endeavors, noting that the previous governors failed in the areas of education, power, industrialisation and economy development.
“All the former governors in the state including the present one have offered their services based on their capacities. But they made 80 per cent mistake and only recoded 20 per cent success.
“Education wise, we all know that Ondo State was number one when we were together with Ekiti, but now Ondo state is no more number one again. Similarly, Ondo State was number one in the area of cocoa production before, but as I speak, Taraba State has surpassed us.”
He added that while there may be concern about the forthcoming gubernatorial election, he said he is confident that there would not be any interference from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja.
“I can confidently say that President Bola Tinubu will not tamper with the state gubernatorial election. This is because, everybody is watching. My advice for him is that he should just hands off.
Indeed, the election will be free and fair as well as peaceful. The President will not use his power to influence the election.”
