IHSOSA elects new National Executive Committee
A new set of National Executive Committee that will pilot the affairs of the Islamic High School, Orita Basorun, Ibadan Old Students Association for the next two years has emerged.
Members of the association in a peacefully conducted election held based on the delegate system elected an eight-man Executive Committee.
The election, which was held at the Orita Basorun premises of the school, saw a university don, Dr. Bayo Busari, elected as the National President.
Also elected into the executive committee were Lateef Adesina and Muftau Olaniyi Zubair, who were returned as Vice President and General Secretary, respectively for a second term of office.
Other members included Omowumi Emmanuel as Assistant General Secretary; Olubisi Abiola Davies Ojo, as Public Relations Officer; Ismaila Oyebayo Bello, as Treasurer; Quadri Olorunseun Ishola, as Financial Secretary while Nafisat Yetunde Adejumo, was elected Welfare Officer.
The new National President in his acceptance speech, expressed his appreciation to the founding fathers of the association and the outgoing Executive Committee for sustaining the cord of development for the school, emphasizing the pivotal role that old students’ associations have played in the education sector of the state.
Busari called on the state government, under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde, to further partner old students’ associations as “government alone can not fund education in the state.”
The election was witnessed by elders in the association, delegates and observers from various sets, as well as the school Principal, Alhaji Abdullahi Fasasi, who is also an alumnus of Islamic High School.
