Governor Nwifuru lauds Tinubu over appointment of Shittu as Pro-Chancellor

Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Nwifuru, on Wednesday, lauded President Bola Tinubu, for appointing Barrister Adebayo Shittu, as the Pro-Chancellor, David Umahi Federal University of Health Services, Uburu.

The governor who played host to the former Minister of Communications and the management team of the university led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jesse Uneke, in his office in Abakaliki, expressed joy that the University is in a capable hand with Shittu as the Pro-Chancellor.

He described Barrister Shittu as a dogged fighter whose pedigree speaks volume of as a man of integrity and character, stating that the appointment of Shittu and other members of the Governing Council by President Tinubu assured him that good things have come to Ebonyi State.

Rt. Hon. Nwifuru disclosed that the university is dear to the state given the role played in its establishment by the former governor of the state and Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, who the institution is named after, assuring that the state government under his leadership would always be available to support the Governing Council to deliver on the mandate of making the university one of the best in the country.

He said, “It gladdens my heart that President Bola Tinubu appointed you and your team into the Governing Council of our dear, David Umahi Federal University of Health Sciences, Uburu. It is a university that the state spent a fortune on and I have no doubt that with your appointment the university cannot be intimidated as apart from being a dogged fighter you are a special man who has seen it all with lots of experience.”

Barrister Shittu in his remarks, commended Governor Nwifuru for following in the footstep of his immediate predecessor, Senator Umahi, to develop the state and its people, stating that with his achievements in just over a year in office he is positively envying him most especially his agenda to not only move the state forward but one of the best in the country.

The former Minister of Communications and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), assured of the commitment of his team to change the story of the university to be one of the best in the country, stating that he cannot afford to disappoint both Governor Nwifuru and Senator Umahi, who have committed a lot to the development of the university.

“I am committed to what would make the university the most beautiful in the country and I want your Excellency to see me and other members of the Governing Council as your foot soldiers who will positively project the university and Ebonyi State”, he said.
