Forum of Oyo State LG PDP Chairmen knocks Adelore over statement on Makinde

The Forum of Oyo State LG PDP Chairmen has berated the immediate past Chairman of the party in Ibadan North local government, Prince Seun Adelore, over what it termed his unflattering portrayal of the leadership style of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Prince Adelore had recently announced his resignation from the PDP citing deep seated injustice within the party, a lack of reward for loyalty, and a growing departure from democratic principle.

However the Forum in a statement issued in Ibadan by the PDP Chairman, IBNW & Chairman of Chairmen, Alhaji Lukman Adesina; PDP Chairman, Oyo East & Secretary, Hon. Shakiru Ojo and PDP Chairman, Kajola LGA & PRO, Hon. Ojebiyi Johnson, said the statement by Falore is nothing short of a poor attempt at diverting attention from his personal failures both as a politician and public office holder.

The statement read, “While acknowledging Adelore’s right to the freedom of association and indeed expression as enshrined in the 1999 Constitution (as amended), the Forum however wishes to condemn in the strongest terms, his portrayal of the leadership style of His Excellency, Engr Seyi Makinde in clearly unflattering terms.

“To those who might be tempted to swallow his bait hook, line and sinker, Adelore’s attempt to position himself as a latter-day champion of democracy and good governance in Oyo State soon after the widely applauded consensus arrangement in Ibadan North is nothing short of a poor attempt at diverting attention from his personal failures both as a politician and public office holder.

“It is, to borrow the words of Shakespeare in Macbeth, “a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury but signifying nothing”!

“Adelore cited “deep seated injustice within the party, a lack of reward for loyalty, and a growing departure from democratic principles” as reasons for his resignation. He further wrote, “vindictiveness, authoritarian tendencies and a lack of respect for human dignity have unfortunately become pervasive”

“Without a shred of evidence Adelore concluded his “epistle” in the most uncouth and uncharitable manner when he wrote thus: “As Niccolo Machiavelli observed, despots often mask cruelty with gestures of charity, while trampling those who helped bring them to power. The pattern has become evident in the State, where loyalty is often punished rather than appreciated”

“Prince Seun Adelore will do himself and sagging image a word of good by first rendering account of his uninspiring and tragic stewardship as Chairman of the Waste Management Board to the good people of Oyo State before pontificating on values way beyond his league.

“Ambition”, noted Oscar Wilde, “is the last refuge of the failure”. Indeed, and as the word of God in Proverbs 16:18 so eloquently puts it, “pride goes before destruction; a haughty spirit
before a fall”. Adelore’s character flaws are deeply seated and too well known to everyone within the PDP family in Oyo State to warrant any serious attention.

“Aside his appointment as Board Chairman within the first year of Governor Seyi Makinde’s first term – an assignment which he bungled spectacularly, need we remind Adelore that His Excellency has done far more for LG PDP Chairmen in the State than any of his predecessors which is often the source of envy by many within and outside our great party.”

The Forum maintained further that Governor Makinde deserves nothing but praise for his commitment to the welfare of its members in the last six years of his administration, insisting that it is dissociating its members from Adelore’s ill-conceived and malicious vituperations while pledging its continued loyalty and support to the governor.
