FG trains Lab Technicians, Technologists on soil health card scheme

The Federal Government has reiterated its commitment to support agricultural sector in the country to boost food production through the use of soil health card.

This was submission of panel of discussants at the training Organised by the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security and sponsored by Chezlabelle Limited, for the Laboratory Technicians and Technologists on the use of Soil Health Card (SHC), Modules in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Speaking, the Director, Agricultural Land and Climate Change Management Services, Mr Oshadiya Olanipekun, represented by the Personal Assistant, Mr. Oyegoke Afolabi, said the training became imperative to ensure that the technicians and technologists get familiarized with the proper use of soil laboratories for optimal results.
On her part, the state Coordinator, Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Oyo State Office, Dr. Florence Kakulu, urged the participants to make use of the opportunity granted by the Ministry to acquire more knowledge on policies and appropriate agricultural technologies that would definitely lead to job and wealth creations as well as improved standard of living.
While training the participants on the use of Soil Health Card, an Agricultural Expert, Mr. Temitayo Abiri, explained with practical illustrations how best to collect samples and test soil for productive results.
He noted that all stakeholders in the sector are key players in food production across the country, hence, the need to support one another in the chain of agriculture.
The participants who could not hide their satisfaction with the training, described it as an eye-opener that would enrich their knowledge in soil testing and  laboratories.
