Devt of Ibadanland a collective responsibility, Olubadan
All Ibadan indigenes within and in the Diaspora as well as residents of Ibadanland have been called upon to join hands in moving the ancient city forward.
The Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, made the appeal while playing host to Omo Obabinrin of Ibadanland at the Olubadan Palace, Oke Aremo, Ibadan.
Speaking through the Agba Akin Balogun of Ibadanland, Senior Chief Rafiu Onideure, the Olubadan called on Ibadan indigenes all over the world not to forget their source but be involved in the progress and development of their
fatherland.
“Come to your Macedonia and rebuild it as you don’t have any other place to call your home.
“Ibadanland needs all the support it can get from all indigenes at home and abroad. The development of Ibadanland is our collective responsibility wherever you may be across the globe. So please join hands with us in developing this historic and ancient city of many firsts”, he said.
The President of the Association, Alhaja Nurat Yusuf (Ola Mummy), in her remarks, said the group was at the palace to receive royal blessings from the royal father and wish him a successful tenure in good health.
She said, “We are here to pay our respects to Kaabiyesi during this visit and to behold the edifice which is the new palace of the Olubadan. We congratulate Kaabiyes as the first occupant and wish him a successful tenure in good health.
“We pledge our support and loyalty to the paramount ruler and look forward to many areas of collaboration with the palace.”
Accompanying the President of the Association were other members which included Alhaja Ganiyat Akande, Alhaja Folasade Olayiwola and Alhaja Nike Lawal among others.
Receiving the guests on behalf of the Olubadan of Ibadanland include the Asiwaju Olubadan, Chief Muibi Ademola Odunade; the Asiwaju Olubadan, Mogaji of Alago family, Adewale Bankole and Aremo Olubadan of Ibadanland, Barrister Sunmbo Owolabi Olakulehin.
