Democracy Day : Ex-Oyo ALGON Chairman tasks Nigerians on unity, peace and progress 

The immediate past ALGON Chairman in Oyo state, Prince Ayodeji Abass-Aleshinloye,  has felicitated with Nigerians on the occasion of June 12.

Abass-Aleshinloye in a statement by his Media Office, urged Nigerians to work towards a harmonious and inclusive society, calling on them to reflect on the significance of the day in our nation’s political history.

The statement read, “As we commemorate Democracy Day, let us also reflect on the significance of this day in our nation’s political history. It marks the resilience and determination of the Nigerian people in their pursuit of democratic governance.

“Today is the day when we remember the years before and look at the possibilities before us in order to strive for an even better future. We should remember not to leave the faith of our country in the hands of our leaders alone, as it is the responsibility of everyone to make it greater. Have faith in Nigeria!

“Leaders should always strive to ensure economic prosperity and a conducive secured environment for people to unleash their potentials, especially at the grassroots level for opportunities because many of these ethnic and religious problems are products of economic tensions. What is expected is that all hands should be on deck to build a Nigeria of our collective dream where freedom, peace and unity abound, and where the labour of our Heroes past, shall never be in vain.

“Democracy, unity in diversity, peace and progress, leadership with integrity are basic tenets of good governance and purposeful development. This is how best to remember and honour June 12 as a watershed in the political history of Nigeria.

“It  is also important that Nigerians leverage on the Democracy Day event to pray for the leadership of the nation at the moment, and the leadership at the state levels, and also pray that the lofty desire of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to rid Nigeria of the economy challenges should produce the needed result. May the good Lord bless Oyo people in particular and Nigerians in general on this momentous period of Democracy  Day Celebration.”
