Cleric charges Muslims to imbibe lessons of Ramadan

A popular Islamic cleric, Sheik Muhideen Ajani Bello, has urged Muslims all over the world to imbibe the lessons learnt during the ongoing Ramadan in order to seek the face and forgiveness of Almighty Allah even after the end of the Holy Month.
Bello who stated this while delivering a lecture at the annual Ramadan lecture of Oodua Peoples  Congress OPC New Era, Oluyole local government area, urged Muslims all over the world to use the lessons of Ramadan in their day to day activities.
According to him, Ramadan period is characterised by total submission to God, self denial as well as abstinence from sin and other vices.
He however stressed the need for every Muslim to sustain the abstinence from sins and other vices while upholding the teachings of  Holy Prophet Mohammed.
He said, “Steadfastness and total submission to Allah will make society habitable to all and devoid of war, hostility, rancor, poverty and other calamities.”
“We should continue to show love, forgiveness and respect to one another while the lessons of the Ramadan must reflect in our daily lives.”
He lauded the OPC New Era in Oluyole local government under the leadership of Comrade  Bashir Kolawole, for deeming it fit to organise such yearly lecture.
“I was thinking that coming here today would be for exhibition of charms but I’m surprised that OPC  can organise this kind of a peaceful Ramadan lecture devoid of any vices. May Almighty  be with you all”, he said.
While speaking with journalists after the program, the National Publicity Secretary who doubles as the highest ranking officer in Oyo State, Comrade Adesina Akinpelu, said the essence of organising the annual Ramadan lecture is to showcase that OPC is for everyone irrespective of all religious belief.
“Contrary to what some people think. OPC is not against any religion.  We have members who are Christians, Muslim  and traditional religion worshippers. There is no discrimination whatsoever in OPC.”
Comrade Akinpelu who commended all militant groups and Yoruba self-determination groups who attended the event in their large numbers, assured them that the era of molestation and killing one another has gone.
“As I’m talking to you today, I’m championing a cause that will prevent shedding of innocent blood in Yorubaland and beyond. Whatever group or association you are, I, Comrade Adesina Akinpelu will fight for your legitimate right under the ambits of the law of the land. Gone are the days where we ignorantly kill ourselves under the guise of group or association. Some of us who have witnessed such era are now coming together to resist and prevent shedding of innocent blood under any guise. Anyone who shed innocent blood in Yorubaland will die prematurely”, he said.
Also speaking, the organiser who is also a state executive member of Oodua Peoples Congress and Chairman of Oluyole local government, Comrade Bashir Kolawole, said the Ramadan lecture has become a yearly programme of the  Oodua Peoples Congress, OPC New Era.
According to him, he and his members at local government will continue to give back to the society in a positive way.
“We thank God for the successful hosting of this year’s Ramadan lecture and awards presentation. The large turn outs of this year’s programme is something we are happy about and will continue to do our best to improve.”
