Awujale’s burial holds Monday in Ijebu Ode 

The late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona, will be buried in Ijebu Ode, today, July 14.

The Secretary to the Ogun State Government (SSG), Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, made the disclosure in a statement issued in Abeokuta, the state capital.

Oba Adetona who ascended the throne in 1960 died on Sunday, July 13, at the age of 91 years.

Talabi said the burial will take place at Ogbagba Court, Igbeba, Ijebu-Ode, by 4 pm.

The statement read, “Ogun State Government has announced the burial rites for the late Awujale of Ijebu land, His Royal Majesty, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona. The burial will take place today (14/07/2025) at Ogbagba Court, Igbeba, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, at exactly 4 PM.

“The revered monarch joined his ancestors on Sunday, July 13, 2025, at the age of 91.

“A statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi, urged residents of the state to remember the family of the revered monarch in their prayers.”
