Alli moves motion for immortalisation of Oba Balogun

Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South), has proposed the naming of one of the Senate Committee rooms after late Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba (Dr.) Mohood Olalekan Balogun to immortalise his memory.
This is contained in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas and made available on Wednesday in Ibadan.
It would be recalled that the late first class monarch, who reigned as the 42nd Olubadan of Ibadanland for two years, passed away on Thursday, March 14.
Alli in his motion of urgent national importance presented at plenary on Wednesday, urged the Senate to honour the late Oba Balogun.
He advocated the sending of high-powered delegation on a condolence visit to the governor, late monarch’s royal family, chiefs and the people of Ibadan as well as paying a visit to the incoming Olubadan, who incidentally was a former member of the House of Representatives.
The motion called for the expression of heartfelt condolences to the late Olubadan’s family, chiefs, the people of Ibadan, Yoruba race, and Nigeria.
His motion highlighted the exceptional contributions of the revered monarch, stating that he excelled as a statesman,  former Senator and custodian of Yoruba culture and tradition.
Alli in the motion, said late Oba  Balogun’s wisdom, leadership and dedication to his people would be deeply missed, calling for unanimous support as a fitting tribute to his remarkable legacy.
The lawmaker urged the Senate to observe a minute silence to honour the  memory of the late monarch, who was also a former Senator and elder statesman a request granted and observed by the Senate.
The trio of Sen. Yunus Akintunde (APC-Oyo Central), Sen. Abdulfatai Buhari (APC-Oyo North) and Sen. Abba Moro (PDP- Benue South) among others rose in plenary and supported the motion.
